Pest Control Tips for Families and Business Owners

Hello and welcome to my anti-pest blog. Hi, my name is Corrie. I live in an old home in the middle of nowhere. Due to the gaps in my home and the fact that we are virtually surrounded by nature, all kinds of pests have gotten into my home over the years. In addition to the usual suspects such as cockroaches, ants, termites and mice, we have also seen feral bees and small marsupials get into our home. Through trial and error and the occasional help of a professional pest removal specialist, we have learned a wealth of information about pest removal. Explore this blog and learn through my experiences. I think you will enjoy reading, but most of all, you will enjoy your pest-free house.

5 Signs That You Need to Arrange a Pest Inspection

Household pests come in all shapes and sizes. But one thing all pests have in common is that they are often sneaky and hard to pinpoint.  This is why it's important to take preventative measures to ensure pests cannot infest your home. Pest inspections are a good way to determine if you have pests or are at risk of pest infestation.

Learn to recognize the signs of pest infestation. If you see any of the following signs, arrange a pest inspection soon.

1. Strong odours

Some pests leave an unpleasant or strong odour in the areas they infest. These odours are difficult to eradicate without removing the pest causing them. Rodent urine gives off a strong ammonia-like smell. Areas infested with termites may smell like rotting leaves or mould. And cockroaches produce pheromones that smell musty or sweet.

If you can't find a reason for an unpleasant odour somewhere in your home, you could have a hidden pest infestation.

2. Unexplained damage

All pests will cause some kind of damage to the buildings they infest. Termites damage wood as they eat the wood from the inside. You might not notice the damage until you accidentally knock on the wood and cause it to crumble.

Rodents chew constantly. If you find gnaw marks on wood and other objects in your home, rodents are probably to blame.

3. Electrical problems

Rodents sometimes chew on electrical wiring. This can lead to electrical issues such as electrical shorts and blackouts. And even termites and ants can cause electrical issues as they build their nests and forage for food.

4. Strange noises

If you hear strange noises like scratching in the walls and attic and fluttering, you may have a rodent or bat problem. And if you hear a rustling noise in the walls, this could indicate a severe termite infestation. Buzzing indicates bees or wasps. In all of these cases, you need a pest inspection to identify the cause.

5. Bites

Bites are an indication that you have a flea, mite or bed bug infestation in your home. If you wake up with unexplained bites, you may have bed bugs in your home. If the bites are around your ankles, you could have a flea infestation. A pest control service can identify and eradicate any pests that may be biting you.

Have you noticed any of these signs around your home? Then call a pest control service today. A professional pest control service can identify pests and pest damage, and then suggest and implement treatments to remove pests.
